Decatur

With its main street, Ponce de Leon Avenue, continuing into the city of Atlanta, Decatur is located just six miles to the west of Atlanta and six miles ot the east of historic Stone Mountain. Actually a small college town, Decatur is home to Agnes Scott College, Columbia Theological Seminary, branches of the Art Institute of Atlanta and DeVry University, and within a shuttle ride from Emory University.

More than 200 mostly independent shops, restaurants, galleries, salons and other service businesses provide plenty of opportunities from college students to business professionals. Decatur is ceratainly a destination for foodies and great live music. With critically acclaimed restaurants such as Cakes & Ale, Leon’s Full Services, Twain’s and the Brick Store, that emphasize farm-to-table concepts and hand-crafted beers. Storefront boutiques like Squash Blossom, Sq/Ft, Boogaloos, Tres Jolie and Vivid specialize in the latest trends in organic, fair trade goods, sustainable materials and local designers. At night, musicians take the stage at Eddie’s Attic where the Indigo Girls, Sugarland, Sean Mullins and John Mayer played in their early days and still drop by for surprise visits. Live music of all genres can be found at numerous other venues in downtown Decatur and Oakhurst Village just to the south.
